Yonago MediART is a women-owned media and educational platform dedicated to uncovering and preserving the deep historical threads that connect distant cultures. Drawing from the rich living heritage of the ancient Silk Road, Central Asian folk arts, Japanese craftsmanship, and American and Western traditions, we empower the next generation of storytellers by providing professional journalism training, visual media literacy, and digital documentary skills. Focusing strongly on rural creators, young women, minority voices, and under-represented regional artists, we operate across the United States, Japan, Turkey, Azerbaijan, and Central Asia to amplify diverse cultural perspectives.

- About the founder
Kazuko Kano
Educator and artist Kazuko Kano is a native of Tottori, Japan, with a distinguished career spanning broadcast journalism, traditional Japanese arts, and language education. Formerly a TV journalist, videographer, and anchor at Chukai TV in Yonago City, she brings a storyteller’s eye to her cultural work and currently teaches Japanese language and culture in the United States.
A master calligrapher, she has been a member of the Japan Calligraphy Education Foundation (JCEF) since 1982 and is licensed by the U.S. Japanese Calligraphy Federation to assess and award promotion certificates. Beyond her mastery of Shodo, Ms. Kano is an experienced instructor of Ikebana (flower arrangement) and Sado (tea ceremony), offering a deep, authentic window into Japanese customs and artistic practices. She holds a B.A. in Literature from Kobe Women’s University and an M.A. in Film and Video from American University.
